While nothing can ever truly be zero waste, this got close! I rescued a role of fabric on my street from an interior designer. Its pattern is reversible and I cut a large rectangle of fabric to manipulate cutting away only the neckline and hem which I used as text fabric during construction. 

I can't help but be inspired by the wonder of kimonos that undoubtedly paved the way for this sustainable construction 'innovation', and the bolero crop style jacket that sits to flatter those with a shorter torso or square waist. 

This jacket is fastenless.

It features bias tape to conceal seams and a resilient texture that doesn't wrinkle easily.

Origins not traceable however likely made of polyester combined with a hemp, bamboo or jute fabric based on the texture.

The upcycling process

Step 1

Textiles are sourced and sorted from pre-consumer textile waste, in partnership with FABSCRAP, with a focus on material quality and aesthetics.

Step 2

We save and combine each rescued material them using our patchwork-joining technique with compositions inspired by nature.

Step 3

Finishing details were hand-sewn. The outcome features a patchwork piece in contrasting hues. The textile composition celebrates the beauty of asymmetry.
